CHICAGO, Oct 07, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- MotherProof.com, the new-car automotive advice site written for moms, by moms, launched a revamped website today to deliver a better online experience to the fastest-growing segment of auto consumers: women.
"The new site furthers MotherProof.com's mission of providing unbiased, practical new-car reviews and information from a mom's perspective," said Kristin Varela, "Chief Mom" and senior editor of the site. "Women purchase more than 50 percent of new cars and influence 85 percent of all car sales. Our car reviews look not only at safety and comfort, but also on how much space is available and what special features work best for families."
Key upgrades to the site include simplified navigation that allows women to search for cars that best fit their children's life stages.
"Mom's car needs can vary widely based on family make-up. The needs of an expectant mother looking to install her first child safety seat and the mom whose 17 year old is asking for the keys are completely different," Varela said. "Now moms can search specifically for vehicles that best cater to new moms, moms with school-aged children or moms with teenagers."
Other site enhancements include a lifestyle magazine-like look and feel, and more focus on vehicles' fuel efficiency. The site will also feature informational links to leading car-shopping site Cars.com so women can search car inventory at dealers near them, do additional research, access financing tools and more.
MotherProof.com will continue to deliver original content, written by moms, that expands beyond new-car reviews to include news, trends and advice on family life in the car. The site will also still offer the innovative ability to search vehicles in ways not available on other automotive sites, including by number of rows of seats.
The site can be seen at MotherProof.com and accessed via Cars.com and several content syndication partners, including Kaboose and BabyCenter.
About Mother Proof:
MotherProof.com (http://www.motherproof.com) is a mom's guide to life in the car that offers opinions and practical information about cars and car life, written from one savvy mom to another.
MotherProof.com was born in 2004 when young mother and
entrepreneur Kristin Varela needed a new car to meet the growing
demands of her family and found that a short test drive didn't deliver
mom-relevant information. While women purchase more than 50 percent of
new cars and influence 85 percent of all car sales, most automotive
advice speaks to men and automotive enthusiasts. Varela saw the need
to deliver automotive information to moms, an important and
underserved niche.
